Rebecca Caskey, LCMHC & Gottman Couples Therapist

No one wants to feel like they’re being studied.

I can say with certainty that I’ve never found myself in times of challenge thinking, “Gee… I wish someone would stare at me expectantly, legal pad in hand, and murmur ‘Hmm…’ over and over again.”

After all, who has?!

But movies and tv have held on tight to that image—the super-formal therapist with their glasses and notepad, sitting in the big leather chair in an otherwise sterile, clinical setting.

Therapists can be professional, experienced, and helpful without making clients feel like they’re being studied behind glass…

You need a partner and facilitator in this work… Not a passive observer.

Rebecca Caskey, LCMHC & Gottman Couples Therapist

When couples reach out to me for help, it’s because they’re looking for guidance. They’re willing to open up and talk about some of the most difficult parts of their relationship…

The parts they don’t often show to anyone else.

That kind of vulnerability is a pretty magical thing. It can serve as a springboard for working through the tough stuff—and eventually reaching your shared goals as a couple.

And I think that’s really exciting.

I’m Rebecca Caskey, LCMHC & Gottman Couples Therapist.

Call me Becky! 👋

I work with couples experiencing any number of relational issues—from communication struggles to healing from betrayal or affairs; reconnecting with your partner; mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, or loneliness; divorce; and supporting LGBTQIA+ couples.

I use a variety of approaches in my work with couples, like Emotionally-Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT), talk therapy, mindfulness training, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Sex Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT).

I’m also a Certified Gottman Therapist, incorporating the science-backed work of Doctors John and Julie Gottman.

I tailor my approach for every couple I work with—because I strive to hear and see both of you.

I want you to feel hope that you truly CAN work through your struggles.

Here's why this matters to me.

In my early years of practicing therapy, I worked with young people.
That’s right—not couples at all!

I started as an educator before moving into counseling. And when I started providing therapy, I was a mental health liaison to a school district, working with youth involved with the juvenile justice system.

When I’d meet with the parents of these young people, I’d hear time and again about the couples’ own struggles. I’d witness how relationship issues between parents and caregivers would directly impact the children involved.

And I saw just how those young people began to thrive when the couple was able to build a stronger relationship with each other.

When I began to focus more of my attention on the couples themselves, I realized just how much passion I had for helping partners find their way back to each other…

And how much of an impact that had on everyone around them, too.

So Becky… What qualifies you to do this work?

Glad you asked!

You and your partner are exceptional.

Really!

Every individual is unique, and therefore, so is every relationship. In this way, your relationship has its own identity—just like you and your partner.

Your relationship has its own language, memories, rituals, values, ethics, and beliefs. It has its own history, experiences, and shared meanings.

I put that front and center in my work with couples.

And as long as you’re willing to stay open to the process, as painful as it might be, I know we can make great progress toward bettering your relationship (and yourselves, too!).

We’ll tackle it together.

We’ll outline your goals, identify your patterns, and set a course of action.

And we’ll make sure that each of you feels:

✔️ Seen, heard, and understood;
✔️ Like your person is your person again;
✔️ Safe in knowing that your future together can be brighter, stronger, and better than even the sunniest parts of your past.

My goal is to get you connecting again and creating shared meaning… Together.
